Strong Layer in SE Coprates There is a particularly strong layer ~10 m thick and extending over at least 8,000 km in area. Layer outcrops in the massif indicate that the massif is tilted down towards the west (& maybe towards the south). Layer does not occur in southernmost wall. Current elevation is lower than massif & northern plateau Perhaps topo was inverted when strong layer was emplaced Perhaps strong layer was downdropped to a lower elevation, now difficult to find exposures Maybe trough south of massif opened first, southern plateau downdropped, then layer emplaced 2 M07/03302 M03/06302
