Shana Priwer was gracious enough to provide the following information on how to set up PPP on Win NT computers.
(1) use a USR or Rockwell-compatible modem, preferably one with jumpers on the card (2) set card jumpers to Com 2, IRQ 3. Don't ask me why this works, but it's the only combination that seems to be recommended for NT (3) Install Dial-Up Networking from the NT CD (4) Install modem software, make sure modem can dial via Hyperterminal (5) Double-click on Dial Up Networking (in the My Computer window). It will ask you if you want to use the wizard or do your own settings. USE THE WIZARD because there is a setting only available through the wizard that's required for this to work (6) When Dial Up Networking asks what you're connecting to, check BOTH (a)The Internet and (c)a non-NT computer. Option C doens't seem to be available through a non-wizard setup, and I couldn't find a way to go back and set this later. (7) Use Telephony properties. In the "script" tab make sure "pop open a terminal window after dialing" is checked. The rest of the modem settings are the same as per the 95 instruction sheet. I think that's it - the main thing I was stuck on was the bit about dialing into a non-NT machine. I couldn't believe there was no other place to set that, but it seems to only let you do it at the beginning and through the wizard. Who knew :)
