62P/Tsuchinshan 1

This image of Periodic Comet Tsuchinshan 1 was obtained on 1997 December 31 with Spacewatch. The image is 4.5 arcminutes square with north at the top and west on the right. This image is the result of co-adding 2 images while shifting the images to account for the comet's motion. The comet is the diffuse object near the center of the image. The fuzzy vertical streak is a result of a bright star outside of the present image, but still in the original CCD image. Click on the thumbnail for the full view of the comet.
