PIRL's CCG PCR4 Film Recorder
This film recorder prints grayscale and color images onto 35mm
film. It has a maximum resolution of 4Kx4K pixels, and is excellent for
creating presentation-quality images and text slides. The hardware
is a CCG PCR-4 that replaces the old QCR/Z that went into retirement
in 1999.
The QCR/Z has since been resurrected, and is being held in "emergency
reserve" in case the PCR-4 needs service.
This film recorder has the same capabilities of the old QCR/Z
film recorder, with some notable enhancements:
- Electronic rewind.
- Color tables for multiple film types.
This system is available for use by all of LPL. Prospective users
are encouraged to take a tour of its capabilities and learn how to use
its software. Contact Joe Plassmann
or Brad Castalia for tour
information. People accustomed
to the QCR/Z software will be happy to learn that there are no significant
differences in the operation of the software with this new device.
Prospective users that don't want to know how this new film recorder
works, but do want to have slides made, can contact
Maria Schuchardt
who will be happy to shoot your slides for you.
The film recorder is located in SS-429A.
