Connecting to PIRL

Moved to wiki

Not sitting in the PIRL user room? No problem. There are a variety of ways to connect to the PIRL systems.

Don't use TELNET, RLOGIN, or other "R" services. These connection methods are inherently insecure. Because of that, PIRL does not allow connection via these protocols. However, we invite you to get used to the Secure Shell family of connection methods.

Secure Shell (SSH)
You have internet access, but need to know how to remotely connect to PIRL machines.
Web-based Mindterm SSH client
Your machine doesn't have an SSH client program, but it does have a Java-enabled web browser.
Dialup Terminal Server
Still only have a modem for remote connections? This is how to use it.
