Fig. 8. Libya Linea

Libya Linea is a gray band extending from a region west of Astypalaea Linea eastward past Thrace Macula. A portion of it is shown here in these 42 m/pixel Galileo images (E17 orbit). The prominent ridge which crosses the band is approximately 2 km wide. The apparently low-elevation interior surface is composed of subparallel striations, giving it a raked appearance. A distinct central crack is not apparent. While the lineament has not yet been successfully reconstructed, it is probably a dilational band that is linked to Astypalaea Linea.
