Fig. 3. Europan bands.

Bands can be identified by their strip-like shape, width up to tens of kilometers, apparent low elevation, and their array of internal subparallel striations which may be irregularly bilaterally symmetrical and which lacks a strong central groove. In addition to the bands we examine in detail in this paper, examples include: (1) a sickle-shaped band ("The Sickle") near Manannan and a NNW-trending band (b) which it overlaps (E11 orbit); (motion of The Sickle may have been driven by walking on its NS trending western arm); (2) a lower-resolution view (G1 orbit) of the Sickle and the underlying band; (3) a NNE-trending band (b) on the leading side of the satellite (E15 orbit) and an enlargement of part of it (4).
