Fig. 10a. Band near Tyre

This large band near Tyre (T) is internally striated, with marked ridges and grooves. However, neither a prominent central structure nor a strong bilateral symmetry is apparent in these 170 m/pixel Galileo regional images (E14 orbit). Overall, the band appears to lie at the ambient elevation although individual interior striations seem elevated. Offsets of older dilational lineaments cut by this large band suggest that displacement has occurred. Arrows link the offset older bands and indicate the net relative motion vector.

Fig. 10b. Band near Tyre, reconstructed.

The large band has been reconstructed on the vectors shown in Figure 10a. Older bands 1, 2, and 3 realign conformably, and an old, arcuate band (4) also reconstructs. The large band is dilational with a strong component of left-lateral shear. Boundaries of the northern portion of the band do not reconstruct conformably, despite realignments of the displaced lineaments.\
